As author Goldie Alexander says, our history is plentiful in stories but many can be lost if they are not captured in words or images. Memoir writing helps preserve our heritage but for many people the prospect of writing their memoirs is daunting.
To help demystify the process the library is running a memoir writing presentation with Goldie, on Monday 16th October from 6pm. She will explore ways of overcoming procrastination, tackling research and beginnings, coping with controversial issues and self-publishing.
Goldie is the author of dozens of fiction and non-fiction books, including Mentoring Your Memoir. She runs creative writing workshops in schools, libraries and community centres, mentors emerging authors and runs memoir workshops.
