A reminder to members that the library will be participating in Open House Melbourne from Friday 25th July to Sunday 27th July.
We are expecting an influx of visitors on those days, particularly the weekend, so the library is likely to be busier than usual.
It’s a rare author whose books still sell more than 50 years after their death but Georgette Heyer is one of the chosen few.
Heyer’s novels are entertaining page-turners filled with characters whose lives and stories leap off the page and whose conversations are replete with their author’s rapier wit and keen sense of humour.
But who was Georgette Heyer and how did she come to create the Regency genre of historical fiction so beloved by readers?
This talk by Jennifer Kloester, a bestselling author and Patroness of the International Heyer Society, will reveal the very private woman, discuss her journey from successful teenage author to international bestseller, and explain how she came to the Regency era that she made her own.
The talk will be held on Thursday 14 August with doors opening at 6:30pm for a 7:00pm start. This event is free for both members and non-members but bookings are essential and can be made through Trybooking using this link.
