A reminder to members that the library will be participating in Open House Melbourne from Friday 25th July to Sunday 27th July.
We are expecting an influx of visitors on those days, particularly the weekend, so the library is likely to be busier than usual.
Ever Playful is Somesh Putcha’s debut album, composed for the ABC Classic and Jazz Composer Commission 2024.
The album draws from the storytelling of his father’s Hindu background, an idea from the myth of Amrutamu that to experience positive growth and wisdom requires one to experience equal strife and hardship. Each song is linked to a hardship and the resulting lesson.
Somesh is a drummer and has been inspired by the adventurous and spiritual nature of artists such as John Coltrane, Mark Guiliana and mentor Colin Stranahan. He also draws from further afield, listening to artists including Kendrick Lamar, Noname and David Bowie.
The performance will feature Oscar Peterson on double bass, Bernice Tesara on trumpet and Michael J Brady on guitar.
The performance will be held on Friday 29 August with doors opening at 5:40pm for a 6:00pm performance. This event is free for members and $20 for non-members. Bookings can be made through Trybooking using this link.
