Due to refurbishment work being done on our historic lift, the Melbourne Athenaeum Library will be closed on Saturday August 15.
The library will be open regular hours on Friday August 14 and Monday August 17.
The Partridge String Quartet returns to the library on Friday 11th September with a program of works by contemporary Australian composer Holly Harrison and French composer Claude Debussy (1862-1918).

Holly Harrison’s music has been described as “exploding off the page” and full of “riotous energy, eclectic rhythmic complexity”.
The quartet will play Fluro Electric by Harrison and String Quartet in G Minor by Debussy.
The Partridge String Quartet was formed at the Australian National Academy of Music in 2017 and strives to connect with their audiences through fresh and creative performances.
The quartet is Jos Jonker, Rebecca Shirley and Eunise Cheng on violin and Daniel Smith on cello.
