The Committee, lead by Treasurer Kevin Quigley, has undertaken a revision of the rules which govern the operation of the Melbourne Athenaeum, last revised and registered in 2007. Members will have an opportunity to raise any questions about these draft rules at the AGM, which will take place in the Library at 1pm on 17 April.
You can read an annotated version of these draft rules here.

Along with the construction of the new hall, the name of the institution was changed in 1972.
The change of name for the institution came about because there were a very large number of mechanics' institutes in Victoria at the time, and this would continue to grow for the rest of the century. Included in this number were the North Melbourne Mechanics' Institute, the South Melbourne Mechanics' Institute, and the West Melbourne Mechanics' Institute.
The name Athenaeum was chosen for aspirational reasons.
